Item Details
A rare 19th century gilt-decorated pedal harp by J. F. Brown & Company. The mixed wood frame is embellished with lightwood stringing and inlays as well as gilt moldings and brass fittings. It features a molded crown above a faceted column with Gothic arches. The curved neck continues to a graduated soundbox and the harp rises on a shaped, gilt base with pedals and acanthine-carved, paw feet. The neck plate is engraved ‘J.F. Brown & Co. / Makers / London (?) 64 Broadway N. York’. Please see link provided for a related harp at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
