Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print "Tokugawa Ladies" by Toyohara Chikanobu

A framed Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print triptych titled Tokugawa Ladies (徳川時代貴婦人之圖 Tokugawajidai kifujin no zu) by Toyohara Chikanobu (豊原周延, 1838–1912), also known as Yōshū Chikanobu (楊洲周延). This intricate print involves three noble ladies and a young boy dressed in adult clothing. The women have arranged a kimono with a target for the lad to practice his archery. The work’s title is printed in the upper left corner of the far right print, which also features the artist’s printed signature in the lower right corner. The work is matted with a tri-fold mat that is a very faint green and slightly textured. Under glass, in a wooden gold tone frame that is cut to resemble bamboo. Ready to hang via wire in the back.
