This sale is from the home of Buffalo’s Benjaman Gallery owners, the Johnson family. After starting in a small studio space in the early 1970s, Barry Johnson and Eileen Sellers upgraded to the three-floor Victorian mansion next door, transforming the space into a “one-stop shop for everything art-related” and a gathering spot for the local art scene. Though largely focused on promoting Buffalo regional artists, the Johnsons have also showcased world-famous artists, including pieces from Salvador Dali and Itzchak Tarkay. This sale features primarily 19th- and 20th-century pieces from the family’s personal collection, including works by Charles E. Burchfield, Emile Gruppe and Eliot Clark.
