A signed pastel drawing by listed American artist, William Henry Chandler (1854 – 1928). This painting depicts the landscape of a forest with the trees and ground highlighted by the setting sun. Signed to the lower right in pencil, the piece is presented in a wood frame with leaf motif corners and under acrylic glass. Hanging wire present to verso. Chandler worked in New Jersey from 1887 and later established the William Henry Chandler Company in New York City which employed about twenty different employees who all created pastel works comparable to the style of the Hudson River School.
