A large and impressive American Impressionist original oil on canvas painting by the hand of Thomas Corwin Lindsay (1839-1907). Titled Cows Wading, the piece, in a brilliance of light-play, depicts cattle grazing and drinking at the edge of a lake. Signed ‘T. C. Lindsay’ to the lower left corner. The painting is presented in a gold toned wooden frame with acanthus appliqué to the outer border and a beaded inner border. The frame has reinforced protection from a custom glass front shadow box. Ready to hang.
T.C. Lindsay was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1839. Although he studied in Germany, Lindsay remained active in his home town, opening a studio and founding the Cincinnati Art Club. Known for his landscapes and animal subjects, Lindsay depicts north eastern scenes in delicate brushstrokes.
