Unique Charles Meurer Late 19th Century Painting
Item Details
An original late 19th, early 20th century oil painting by listed artist, Charles Meurer (1865 – 1955). This pasture themed painting is on board, and housed in a gold gilt frame. Signed to the lower right corner. It’s not the subject matter that makes this unique, but instead Meurer’s use of lighter, brighter earth tone paints. This altered painting style creates an Impressionistic scene rather than his typical realistic depictions.
Germany born, Meurer settled in Terrace Park, OH founding the trompe l’oeil style in America. Many of his works depict barnyard scenes. He also created landscapes and hunting scenes.
