Fabulous Early 20th C. Navajo Yei Hand Woven Figural Rug

Item Details

A fabulous early 20th century Navajo Yei rug, hand woven using natural dyes to display a row of ten Yei deities holding feathers. The figures have square heads indicating they are male, wearing bittersweet orange skirts on a red field with a dark brown border. Yei are spiritual deities that act as a liaison between humans and ‘The Great Spirit’. The vibrant colors make this Navajo rug both striking and desirable, the rug is from the Moerlein estate that once stood in Port Union, Ohio.

Condition

The rug is in very good antique condition with the only issue being some slight fading at the bottom edge. The rug has been rolled for years, it has not been used as a rug and shows little to no wear.
