Antique Art Nouveau Bronze Cigarette Box by Peter Tereszczuk (1875-1963)

An antique Art Nouveau bronze cigarette box by Peter Tereszczuk (Austria, 1875-1963), the box is signed at the back and states ‘Made in Austria’. The beautifully patinated box is lined in wood, the hinged lid sculpted with a reclining female figure in a draped and puddled garment. The figure’s face in ivory depicts a woman with her head thrown back, her eyes are closed and her knee overhangs the front edge to lift the lid.
Peter Tereszczuk’s career spanned from 1895-1925 in Austria where he was known for his bronze figural desk sets.
