Antique Japanese Imperial Palace Satsuma Koro Urn

Item Details

An Antique Japanese Imperial Palace Satsuma Koro urn, circa the late nineteenth century. The urn has a rounded form flanked by Foo dog handles, raised on three ornate feet. The lid is topped by a Foo dog finial with its front paws on a ball. The foo dogs and legs have been gilded. The rest of the urn is hand painted with a red and black base tone with ornate floral imagery and patterns.

Condition

There is loss to the gilded surfaces. There is wear from age and use.
