A 1907 hardcover first edition copy of Aunt Jane of Kentucky, by Eliza Calvert Hall, pen name of Kentuckian author Eliza Caroline Obenchain (1856-1935). The author was a proponent of women’s rights and suffrage, and used the wise, plain-speaking character of Aunt Jane to address the concerns and problems of women in the rural South in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This volume is a collection of short stories featuring the Aunt Jane character. Illustrated by Beulah Strong, published by Little, Brown and Company in Boston.
