Foster Campos Girandole Banjo Clock with Painted Ship Scene
Item Details
A 20th century girandole banjo clock by well-respected craftsman Foster Campos. The clock is in a mahogany case with a reverse painting on glass meticulously illustrating a harbor scene, signed Moberg (Tom Moberg, Owosso, Michigan). The clock has beaded edges at both the dial and the cabinet with a gold eagle as a finial and scrolled leaves at the base. The throat of the clock has a reverse painted glass panel in blue, red and gold with a banner reading ‘L. Curtis’ and there are scrolled brass rails with floral rosettes at each side. The clock operates on an eight day weight movement with a brass pendulum, the dial has Arabic numerals also states ‘Foster S. Campos, Pembroke, Mass’. Foster Campos studied for over twenty years with renown clock maker Elmer O. Stennes in Weymouth, Massachusetts. The clock’s key is present.
Condition
The clock is excellent in appearance and was tested to be working. Time accuracy was not recorded.
