Foster Campos Girandole Banjo Clock with Harbor Painting
Item Details
A Foster Campos Girandole banjo clock in a mahogany case with a reverse painted harbor scene, signed ‘Moberg ’95’ at the inside. The wall mounted clock has beaded trim in brass at the round dial and beaded wood trim at the painted glass panel that illustrates masted ships and a lighthouse in the harbor. A three feather finial is atop the clock with scrolled detailing at the sides of the ‘patent’ panel of glass and the base mimics the top finial with again, three scrolled arms. The dial has Arabic numbers, pierced hands and is labeled ‘Foster Campos, Penbroke, Mass.’ The weight is signed and there is a maker’s mark on the case at the throat. Foster Campos studied extensively as an apprentice to highly renowned master clock maker Elmer O. Stennes. The clock’s key is present.
Condition
The clock is excellent in appearance. The clock works when wound and the pendulum is put in motion however accuracy of kept time was not recorded.
