Navajo Artist Clifford Beck (1946-1995) of Scottsdale Arizona, was well known for his magnificent gestural paintings of Native Americans; he has had works exhibited nationally at the Smithsonian Institute, the Heard Museum, the museum of Northern Arizona, and has been featured in Southwest Art magazine and other publications. In a biography from the Southwest Graphics Collection, he was quoted as saying ’ Each face reveals a story…I analyze faces like a historian analyzes the details of mankind’s written history.’
