An original pair of black-and-white watercolors on paper, by John Alfred Begg (America, 1903-1974). Circa 1950. This set of nude pieces is beautifully expressed in minimal organic yet abstract lines with painterly grey brush stokes. Simplistically framed in black with white matting to enhance the works. Begg was internationally acclaimed for his abstract drawings, sculptures, prints and book designs. His work is represented in the New York Public Library, Hudson River Museum and Addison Gallery of American Art. Signed mid-right.
