Oval Tortoise Shell and Mother of Pearl Box

Item Details

An oval tortoise shell and mother of pearl box. The base of this oval box is wood; what lies on the surface are squares with a four piece design in each one. Each square is composed four triangles, two tortoise shell and two mother of pearl. The side of the lid is decorated with triangles of tortoise shell and mother of pear. The top has an inner circle design of the squares surrounded by triangles, tortoise shell and mother of pearl. The lid is not hinged.

• Please note that per CITES Appendix 1 the sea turtle is considered an endangered species, and as such the sale of the shell, though antique and pre-ban, must be kept within the state of Ohio. Interstate sale and transportation is illegal under CITES, and therefore the winning bidder of the shell must provide proof of current residence within the state of Ohio. The shell will also not qualify for shipping outside of the state of Ohio.
