“EBTH is proud to present the collection of Richard “Dick” Bere, a distinguished leader and avid collector. Dick’s remarkable career with the Kroger Company began humbly as a carryout boy in Columbus, Ohio, while pursuing his doctorate at Ohio State University. Through years of dedication and numerous transfers to higher positions, he steadily rose through the ranks. Just as he considered retirement, he was called to Cincinnati and urged to stay on—soon after, he was promoted to Regional Vice President and later to President and Chief Operating Officer.
Following his retirement, Dick devoted his time to philanthropy, serving on the boards of Crayons to Computers, the Free Store/Food Bank, Christ Hospital, and the Dan Beard Council of the Boy Scouts. His passion for collecting was evident throughout his life, with a natural inclination toward Kroger memorabilia. Over time, he built an impressive collection of primitive antiques and advertisements, thoughtfully curated for their historical significance.”
