EBTH is delighted to present the collection of Historic Abbot House in Westford, MA. This gracious Victorian estate comprises a sprawling shingle style mansion along with carriage house, motorcar garage, and barn spread across several acres of Olmstead-designed landscaped gardens. While the Abbot family had resided at this site for most of the 19th century, the Abbot House was built in the 1890s by Abiel and Alice Abbot, heirs to the Abbot Worsted Company textile fortune.
More recently, the house was meticulously restored by the Sargent family, beginning with their purchase of the property in 2005 and ongoing through 2022. Passionate collectors of Victoriana, the Sargents traveled the country buying exceptional pieces to furnish their Victorian estate, including from important auctions and designer destinations such as the Brimfield Antique Flea Markets.
Highlights from the sale include an exceptional 1872 Steinway Rosewood concert grand piano, a Lyon & Healy Number 23 Concert Harp, a Prudent Mallard tester bed, a Meeks parlor suite, and eccentricities such as a Red Sox AL Champion Ring, a penny farthing bicycle, a Victorian carriage, an RCA ‘Nipper’ dog, silver and gold tippling canes, and more!
