Globally recognized as a founding father of the sports performance industry, Chip Smith has dedicated his life to training elite, world-class athletes through his proprietary M.O.R.R. Training System. With decades of experience, Chip’s influence is unparalleled, and he has trained tens of thousands of athletes, including figures like Pelé and Julius “Dr. J” Irving. Since launching his career in the 1980s, Chip’s approach has evolved into a renowned network of M.O.R.R.-certified sports performance specialists, shaping a new standard for training in elite athletics.
Chip’s journey began at the Soviet Sports Institute in Moscow, where he was one of a select group of coaches participating in an international exchange program during the Glasnost Era. Here, he crafted the foundational principles for his M.O.R.R. system. Today, Chip’s clients span NFL rosters and more than 3,700 professional athletes across 41 global sports leagues, with many award-winning champions among them. Notably, Chip spent two years training 14 Chinese Olympic teams, helping 41 medalists (21 of them Gold) in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
Currently, Chip serves as Director of Sports Performance at the NFL Alumni Academy, an initiative to support teams with ready players, and as Director of Sports Performance for the Atlanta Vibe of the Professional Volleyball Federation. A former collegiate athlete and Hall of Fame inductee, Chip holds a BS in physical education, a master’s of sports science certification, and lectures globally on sports performance. Through his books, media appearances, and ongoing leadership, Chip continues to influence and shape the future of athletic training worldwide.
