EBTH is pleased to present the Arthur M Feldman collection, Chicago, IL. Arthur Feldman, a second-generation antique dealer with advanced degrees in art history, museum studies and archaeology, was invited to serve as the third visiting curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. He was the first curator at the Smithsonian Institution’s Renwick gallery in Washington D.C. and director of two Jewish museums; the Spertus in Chicago and the Miller Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was also the founding president of the Council of American Jewish Museums. In 2012, Aurthur Feldman opened The Arthur M Feldman Gallery in Chicao, IL with objects and artifacts that he acquired over many years. The gallery was a distinct destination for shoppers who often traveled from afar seeking antiques, fine art, decorative art and Judaica.
Part of Mr. Feldman’s business mission was to preserve history as well as important religious items from closing synagogues, his passion is evident in the statement “What history is left must not be lost or destroyed”.
Mr. Feldman is a Judaica appraiser as well as a speaker on Judaica who has taken part in the equivalent of antique road shows and exhibitions involving Jewish art and religious objects across the country. He has produced more than 20 publications, many of which are now considered collector’s items, the Judaica chapter on the Art of Friedrich Adler, an essay on Jewish maritime history in the book “The Sons of Zebulon” and an essay on Jewish artists in the book “Harvest of Freedom.” Mr. Feldman is listed in “Who’s Who in World Jewry”.
