A well respected professor of literature and composition, Dr Frank Jordan, Jr. was also appreciated for his thoughtfulness, generous philanthropy and passion for collecting. During his 36 year tenure at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) his scholarly concentration was primarily English Romantic poets, specifically Sir Walter Scott. He authored or edited several books on Scott. While the renowned professor received much deserved recognition for his achievements, his desire to support creative writing led to the creation of both workshops and prestigious student awards, funded by him and a colleague, in an effort to encourage emerging young authors.
In addition to Dr. Jordan’s academic life, he loved music and the visual arts. He was considered by many to be one of the most accomplished organists in the Cincinnati area and those worshiping at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church enjoyed his musical talents for 47 years. As a seasoned traveler, Dr. Jordan never missed the opportunity to visit museums or to collect treasures along the way. He was a generous benefactor to the Miami University Art Museum. And, he was a frequent lender of art and Asian pieces to the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Taft Museum.
As honored stewards of his remaining collection and personal property, EBTH invites you to peruse an eclectic array offering fine art, antiques and treasures from a gentleman’s travels.
