Curated Southwestern Collection: Artisan Pottery, Fine Art & Décor

Sunday, December 18th 2022 @ 1:00am

Curated from treasures gathered across the globe, this collector caught the bug early in life when his father was a diplomat in the French Government. As required by the position, the family relocated every three years to different posts in the Middle East and Russia affording them a rich diversity in culture and experiences. During their travels, Tanguy enjoyed roaming the local markets and galleries with his mother, discovering treasures along the way.

At the age of 18, Tanguy followed his father’s career path and joined the French Embassy. Luckily, his first post sent him to the United States (Detroit, Michigan) where he developed a fondness for the freedom and wide open spaces he hadn’t experienced in other countries. So much did he love his adopted country, he chose to stay in the U.S. after his term with the Embassy expired. Believing in the American Dream, he started his own business in 1984 then met his soulmate in 1993 on the dance floor dancing the “Cowboy Cha Cha”. After discovering their mutual love for the southwest, the storybook romance continued for the next 29 years. The couple traveled extensively visiting festivals, art fairs, studios, galleries and shops collecting artisan wares directly from the artists themselves. One experience included watching the artist, dig the clay, sculpt, glaze and fire the vase in their home studio from start to finish.

Perhaps it is befitting to close with a quote from Tanguy’s soulmate referencing the collection;

“Every piece was made with Love, placed in a home full of Love, admired for years with Love, and hopefully will remain Loved wherever they are.”
