Tom O’Neal has been a life-long dog lover and avid collector of all things related to the canine breeds. Along with his partner Rob Fabis, their extensive collection was curated over many years to include porcelain dog figures (Rosenthal, Royal Doulton, Lladro, Staffordshire), antique oil paintings, antique furniture and Persian rugs. Ron’s career as a rug buyer for Marshall Field & Company both fueled this passion and provided an avenue.
Staying true to their affection for dogs, Tom and Ron founded a prestigious kennel in 1963 which became renowned among cocker spaniel enthusiasts on four continents. The Dream Ridge Kennel bred over one hundred champion dogs in the US, England, Venezuela, Brazil and Japan. Tom eventually specialized in English Toy Spaniels which awarded him the distinction “Breeder of the Year” by the AKC in 2003.
Browsing this sale makes evident the depth and quality of the collection and while the spaniel may have been bred as the champion of kings, this sale makes dog lovers of us all.
