The Robert Chambers House of Burlington, Kentucky has been home to prominent members of Kentucky history over the course of its 190-year history. The classic Federal style home was constructed between 1832 and 1836 and first served as the residence of Robert Chambers, an early settler of Boone County, Kentucky, as well as his son Charles Chambers, who became a member of the second State Constitutional Convention in 1849 and a State Senator from Boone County from 1859-1863. The house and farmstead has been transferred between a limited number of families since 1832, including the Caldwell family, a prominent Northern Kentucky family of surgeons and urban planners in the region throughout the 20th century.
The collection features furniture, décor, and antiques inherited from the Caldwell family, including a World War I nurse’s uniform and military trunk, a corner cabinet crafted by Dr. Caldwell himself, sterling and coin silver flatware sets, American primitives, and more.
