Gail Robinson came to the University of Kentucky as their Distinguished Professor of Voice bearing an enviable pedigree which began at 19 when she won the prestigious Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and made her Metropolitan Opera debut at 21. Gail made her professional opera debut in 1966 and her career flourished for the next 20 years. After her career on stage she began mentoring young singers in the Metropolitan Opera’s Young Artist Program, becoming director of both that program and the Met’s National Council Auditions for almost fifteen years. But Gail’s passion for opera was balanced by her passion for family. She met the love of her life, Henno Lohmeyer, on a trek through Germany. The accomplished American songbird and the equally accomplished German journalist and producer lived happily ever after until her untimely passing. Please enjoy the fabulous offerings from her estate!
