Come, join us at Lilly’s Antique Shop at the corner of Front and Main street within this historic small town nestled along the banks of the Ohio River. New Richmond is rich with history and the building this shop is located in with its Italianate Architecture was originally McMurchy’s Arcade Building, built in1878. It was home to many shops and business ventures over the years and even housed a steam powered printing press that produced the local newspaper in the late 1800’s.
A featured item is a large military trunk that likely was used during Army survey work shortly after the Civil War. This piece came to us from the estate of Col Ernest Howard Ruffner (1845 – 1937), a Kentucky native and West Point graduate of 1867. Ruffner was a prominent figure in Kentucky, West Virginia, Texas and Ohio as well as owner of the Taft House from 1912 until his death in 1937.
Also of note in this sale is a 1950’s Rookwood piece, antique furniture, including a very nice set of circa 1900 pressed back butternut dining chairs, an Atomic sunburst clock and an Art Deco style waterfall buffet, as well as unique and plentiful small treasures, uncommon depression glass pieces, some original artwork and much more.
