Samuel Marx was hired in 1930 as the Story Editor for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer then became a producer for several popular films to include Lassie Come Home (1943) and Son of Lassie (1945). Later in life Marx re-investigated the reported suicide of his friend Paul Bern, husband of actress Jean Harlow. In 1990 he published the findings in a book he co-authored with Joyce Vanderveen titled Deadly Illusions.
