Joyce Jungclas Attee (1926-2012) will be most remembered for her botanical watercolors. Her accomplishments include being listed in Who’s Who of American Women, The World’s Who’s Who of Women and Who’s Who in The Midwest.
A First Place winner in many juried shows, Joyce also had numerous one woman shows in galleries located throughout the country. Her works have been seen in The White House, adorning boxes of Bissinger candies, on Christmas Cards, Magazine Covers and in countless homes throughout the world.
Besides Art, Joyce’s love of writing poetry was evident in the book Elby Jay which she created with three other Cincinnati artists. Joyce was featured in the October 1990 magazine, Indian Hill Living, where she was shown on the cover reading her book Elby Jay to two of her granddaughters.
Although born in Cincinnati, Joyce lived in California for several years as a child where she was a stand in for Darla on the “Our Gang Comedy” series. She graduated from CPS High School in Cincinnati and went on to Rollins College in Florida where she was an English major and Music minor. Her love of music was inspired her to write the song “Alone” which was purchased by Twentieth Century Records. She studied Poetry as a Post Graduate student at The University of Cincinnati and went on to write under such famous poets as Robert Frost.
