Cawood Ledford was a prominent and legendary radio play-by-play broadcaster for the University of Kentucky’s football and basketball teams. For more than forty years, Cawood’s success and passion thrilled fans. with his call of the famous 1992 Duke vs. Kentucky NCAA Regional Final basketball game in which Christian Lattner broke the hearts of Wildcat fans with his incredible buzzer-beater shot in overtime. The University honored this iconic figure by naming the main basketball court “Cawood’s Court” in Rupp Arena. Cawood also worked numerous Kentucky Derby races and events for the CBS Sports Network before retiring in 2001. Cawood Ledford is considered one of the greatest sportscasters of the last century.
