A proud Irish-American immigrant, Benson D. Martin carried his Irish roots with him everywhere. His home is a reflection of this proud heritage and he is fondly remembered for his practice of carrying shamrock stickers in his pockets to share with friends and strangers alike.
A Royal Air Force Veteran, his 30 year career in the hotel and entertainment business began. He has entertained celebrities and politicians and was responsible for Presidential dinners in D.C. After retirement, his dream to bring the traditional Irish pub experience to Chicago became reality in 1986 when he opened Kitty O’Sheas, a premier Irish pub that perpetuates Benson’s legacy.
Benson’s love for the restaurant and entertainment industry, as well as his deep love for his Irish homeland is reflected in this eclectic and varied estate collection. Stroll down this winding Irish memory lane filled with fine Irish crystal, Kitty O’Shea’s fare, Hilton and Palmer House items, mid-century early 20th century furniture, beautiful antique jewelry, and countless vintage autographed items from leaders of our country to well-known leaders in the entertainment industry like Carol Channing and The Lettermen.
