EBTH presents a Civil War era collection from Maple Grove, a home on the Kentucky Historical Society’s state landmark register. Maple Grove was built by the locally-prominent Miles family. They opened the E.L. Miles Distillery in 1796. This distillery operated continuously for nearly 80 years, aside from about three years during the outbreak of the Civil War. A decade after the end of the Civil War, the family opened New Hope Distillery. The operation was modest, but then moved to Louisville where it grew to a larger scale until it was absorbed by another company in 1900. Maple Grove was owned by only a handful of other families in the last century, with the spirit of the Civil War era alive among the collectibles, furniture and property.
