EBTH is pleased to present the estate of Dr. Raul Florez and Mary A. Florez. Originally from Columbia, South America where he completed his formal medical training, Raul came to the United States to learn orthopedic surgery. He met Mary in Boston, MA, they married and moved to Cincinnati. Mary was finally able to fulfill one of her dreams, to study art! Under accomplished local artists Roger Grooms, Emil Quayle and Paul Thompson, and despite not having a formal art degree, Mary lived out her passion. She loved using knives and large brushes to move oil on her larger paintings.
She did a series of still life paintings and some contemporary art. She traveled to New Mexico where she became enthralled with the Southwest colors and culture.Much of the art in the sale, as well as, the items in her home convey her appreciation for that lifestyle. Her art has been exhibited at the Cincinnati Women’s Art Club, Clifton Cultural Art Center, Boca Raton, FL Women’s Art Center, Cincinnati Women’s Club, Greenwich Tavern, City Cellars and Mapleknoll.
