Seller Story:
Famed Sci-Fi Writer - Mike Resnick
A strong believer that science fiction novels should open people up to new perspectives, Mike Resnick was widely respected for writing from diverse viewpoints with characters that were minorities. Resnick was a prolific science fiction writer, who wrote over 40 science fiction novels, 150 stories, 10 story collections, and edited more than 30 anthologies during his 5-decade career. On top of that, Resnick earned a well-deserved reputation as a mentor and editor within the science fiction community. He was someone that always made himself available to support and mentor young writers. Resnick’s dedication to the craft of science fiction writing never wavered, even in his final days while battling lymphoma cancer.

Behind every great man is a great woman and this was certainly true for Mike and Carol Resnick. Married at 19, they spent nearly 58 years side by side. In fact, when it comes to his writing, Mike once said that “Nothing goes out without Carol (my wife) seeing it, editing it, and making suggestions. No one changes anything thereafter.” This partnership went well beyond writing, it is actually the reason the Resnick’s moved to Cincinnati. As Mike tells it, “What else did we know how to do other than write? Care for our Collies. So we searched around for a year and found the country’s second-biggest luxury boarding and grooming kennel in Cincinnati. Bought it, moved here, and in about three years had a staff of 20.” Thirty years later the Resnick family still knows how to write and care for collies.
His daughter Laura describes her father; “His connection to his friends, his readers, and his colleagues enriched his life, and he never stopped being delighted to meet people who read his work, who were interested in writing, who loved books and stories, and who shared his sense of wonder”. We think you will find the same wonder and enjoyment from this unique estate featuring otherworldly art, sci-fi collectibles, books and a peek into Mike & Carol Resnick’s wonderful world.
