Widely considered a father of the Op Art movement, Vasarely was known for his colorful paintings and serigraphs. The artist took inspiration from various European influences including Bauhaus design principles, Surrealism, Constructivism, and Wassily Kandinsky (Russian, 1866 – 1944). Vasarely’s works are noted for their ability to create illusionary depth with color, geometric repetition, and strong graphic designs. Today, the artist’s works can be found in a variety of private and public collections including the Tate (London), the EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art (Espoo, Finland), and more.
