Charles Franklin Chamberlain was an American Impressionist artist, born in 1871 in Webster Township, Michigan. He studied at the Detroit Academy before traveling to the Art Students League in New York, and then on to Paris where he studied under Tony Robert-Fleury and Jules Lefebvre at the Julian Academy. Chamberlain exhibited work in the early 1900’s at the Detroit Institute of Art and with the Society of Western Artists. After returning to Michigan, Chamberlain worked as an architectural drawing instructor at the University of Michigan and operated a chicken and honey farm and painted in his home studio.
