19th Century Marble Sculpture of Classical Figure on Pedestal

An antique Italian marble sculpture, crafted during the nineteenth century. The sculpture portrays a woman in a toga and foliate crown, holding a mortar in her right hand, fallen pestle between her feet, and a cluster of grapes in her left hand (left hand detached but included). The figure includes a marble column base with floral swags carved around the circumference. The sculpture and column base appear to be unsigned.

Condition

- hand is detached but includes iron insert for attachment to arm.
- previous repair to foliate crown, left arm.
- gauges in marble at column base.
- cracks throughout piece, seen at stump behind figure, chip to toe, chipping to edge of the base of the figure as well as chipping and missing pieces to the column base.
- discoloration throughout with debris and staining to marble surface.
