A color etching on paper by celebrated contemporary artist Tom Levine (American; born 1945), dated 1982. This abstract work features a prominent gradient salmon hued chevron. The work is signed and dated to the lower right, and is numbered 28 out of an edition of 30 to the lower left. It is mounted on a beige background presented under glass and housed in a silver-tone metal frame.
Tom Levine was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has painted since a young boy. He received a B.A. in English and Business from Miami University, a Master’s in Psychology and Communications from The University of Denver, and an M.F.A. in Art History from the University of Cincinnati. His abstract and figural has received considerable recognition having been exhibited and collected by numerous art institutions, such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the National Gallery in Washington, among many others. Levine is also an avid art collector, having owned works by several of his peers including Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney, and Jasper Johns.
