Originally from Mississippi, Creekmore currently resides in the greater Cincinnati area and works in her studio at the Pendleton Arts Center. The often edgy yet playful themes in Creekmore’s works explore the use of iconic symbols and found objects. Known for her interactive installations and social practice works such as Impressionism and the People’s Painting, her subjects range from TV color bar test patterns to discarded toy sculptures. In her series Commentary on the Iconic Squiggle , created for the Art of Food show at the The Carnegie in Covington, Kentucky, she references the recognizable white icing found atop Hostess® cupcakes with phrases that include “eat me”, “lick me”, “want me”, and “love me”. CityBeat art writer, Kathy Schwartz, has described Creekmore’s approach to exploring words and imagery from advertising of the past as wistful and nostalgic.
