An oil painting on canvas titled A Home on the Prairie by listed American artist William Albert Hamilton Jr. (1901-1984), dated circa 1970. This painting features a small country home among rolling, golden hills. It is signed to the lower left.
Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, William Albert Hamilton Jr. moved to Los Angeles in 1915. He studied there at the Clay School of Art, the Throop Institute and, later, with the American Impressionist, Edgar Payne. By 1930, he was specializing in landscapes and was represented by the Ainslie Gallery in Los Angeles. The recipient of numerous prizes and juried awards, William Hamilton exhibited widely and with success including at the California Art Club, the Painters & Sculptors of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Artists Guild.
