An 18-volume limited National Edition set of ‘The Writings and Speeches of Daniel Webster’ (Little, Brown, & Company, Boston, copyright 1903). This set is marked no. 559 of 1,050 copies. The books are beautifully illustrated with portraits and plates. This edition was written a half-century after Daniel Webster’s death in 1852 and includes spoken and written material during the years 1800-52. Included is a biographical memoir written by Webster’s friend, Edward Everitt, which was previously included in an 1851 works edition. The hardbound books are bound in red cloth with gilt to front, spine and page edges. Volume I includes an illustrated bookplate of Gunnar B. Björnson with family provenance note dated 1936.
Condition
The entire set is in good condition. There is some fading to spines of books and minor discoloration to edges of paper. Volume VXII has a small paint spot on spine.
