Large Antique German Papier-Mâché Wood Stack Candy Container
Item Details
A large early Victorian German papier-mâche candy container depicting the red robed Belsnickle with his white rabbit fur beard sitting atop a wood pile. The St. Nick figure has hand painted features, wears blousey trousers and holds a green sprig from a feather tree. The top of the wood pile lifts to reveal the interior cavity which would have been filled with candy to the delight of a lucky child.
