Victorian Harmonium Pump Organ

A 19th century Harmonium pump organ made by E.P Carpenter, circa 1880. This is a magnificent example of a highly ornate Victorian harmonium, made by leading harmonium makers, E.P. Carpenter of Worcester, Massachusetts. The pump organ or harmonium is a type of reed organ that generates sound with foot-pumped bellows. This wonderful organ features a hand carved pediment with floral medallion finals and scrolling acanthus leaf center as well as ornate floral carving throughout. The foot pumps are designed of a pierced brass monogrammed with a ‘C’ for Carpenter in the center. This organ has an Aero Dynamic indicator and the words written under it read ’ This Organ contains the celebrated Carpenter organ action and is warranted for eight years. None genuine without the trade mark attached to sounding board.’
