An oil painting on board by listed Cincinnati, Ohio artist Leon Lippert (1863 – 1950). This richly colored floral still life painting features a vase of dark pink blooms amidst abundant green foliage. This work is signed to the lower right. It is housed in a stained wood frame with a linen liner and is equipped to hang.
Lippert, who was born in Germany, emigrated to the U.S as a teenager and settled in Northern Kentucky, across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio. He studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, and was a long time student of Frank Duveneck. A prolific painter, Lippert produced numerous portraits, landscapes, still lifes, commercial illustrations and murals. He was member of the Cincinnati Art Club, serving terms as both its vice president and director, and his work resides in the permanent collection of the Cincinnati Art Museum.
