A Chilmark pewter sculpture titled ‘Mandan-Buffalo Dancer’ by Michael Boyett. The sacred buffalo dance prior to the hunt of the winter buffalo had great religious significance. There is great detail to this sculpture that captures the spirit of the dance. The piece is signed to the base ‘copyright 1981, Michael Boyett’. The title is etched to the base on the reverse and it is number 2380/2500 in a limited edition. The sculpture sits on a Hungarian mahogany base. Maker’s mark to underside.
