A picture of the 1947 Whiz Kid’s baseball team was taken at Baxter Springs, KS. The youngest member of this team, standing in the back row behind the other players, is none other than Mickey Mantle. He was a member of the team but at the time of this picture had severely injured his leg – so he was dressed in street clothes. The original picture of this team is in the museum in Kansas.
