A limited edition 1986 serigraph print titled Kaglo II by listed artist Victor Vassarely (France/Hungary; 1906 – 1997). The print depicts an Op Art composition featuring an octagon filled with blue and red shapes that seem to spiral inwards in a three-dimensional manner. The print is signed in graphite to the lower right and numbered 70/250 in graphite to the lower left. It is presented behind glass in a pewter tone metal frame with a hanging wire.
Widely considered a father of the Op Art movement, Vasarely was known for his colorful paintings and serigraphs. The artist took inspiration from various European influences including Bauhaus design principles, Surrealism, Constructivism, and Wassily Kandinsky (Russian, 1866 – 1944). Vasarely’s works are noted for their ability to create illusionary depth with color, geometric repetition, and strong graphic designs. Today, the artist’s works can be found in a variety of private and public collections including the Tate (London), the EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art (Espoo, Finland), and more.
