An abstract oil painting on canvas by listed American artist Arnold Weber (1931 – 2010), created in 1968. This work features a whimsical design of pictographic symbols and simple shapes portrayed with various vibrant colors. Signed and specifically dated ‘May 1968’ to the lower left, the work is presented in a simple wood frame.
Born in the Bronx, Arnold Weber acquired degrees from Columbia University, the New School, and the Cooper Union Art School. For four years, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of corporeal. He then worked as a graphic artist for the Army Corps of Engineers for thirty-five years. He is particularly known for his abstract paintings often exhibiting bold forms and vibrant colors.
