Loek Koopmans grew up in the Netherlands, and studied graphic design at the Arnhem Art Academy. After his schooling he worked in advertising, eventually transitioning to illustrating children’s books, including some of his own stories. He developed a signature painting style utilizing many careful layers of watercolor washes to create rich color and depth. He has received several awards fro the Dutch Association of Illustrators, and his books are published in many European countries, Japan and the United States.
