A full size viola comprising spruce and flame maple along with ebony fixings. This viola was presented to Musical Director Laureate Leonard Slatkin by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, circa 1996. Names present are Susan Slaughter, principal trumpet, Tina Ward, principal clarinet, Tim Myers, trombone, Tom Stubbs, timpani, Christian Woehr, viola, Ling Ling Guan, second violin, Jenny Lind Jones, Susan Kier, and more.
Leonard Slatkin was the Music Director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Laureate from 1979-1996. He came to this Symphony Orchestra because of his mentor, Walter Susskind, who was the music director there from 1968-1975.
