Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Qashqai Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Qashqai area rug. This rug features a rich crimson field containing an array of geometric forms arranged in a herringbone-like pattern, surrounding three large medallions with crenelated trim. The center medallion contains an abstract motif in crimson, emerald, and cobalt, while the two side medallions contain the same motif in tangerine and crimson on a beige and yellow ground. The center field is bound by crenelated trim forming the four corner spandrels, which integrate the field patterning in similar coloration to the center medallion. The rug has an unresolved principle border containing repeating abstract motifs and is flanked by identical minor borders, beyond which is a crenelated border. The rug is finished with a single-wrapped selvage on both sides and a natural warp fringe to both ends.
