An acrylic painting on canvas tited Coiled Snake, by Cincinnati-based artist Kevin White, created in 2009. Exhibiting the artist’s trademark style, this work features large gestural brushstrokes and vibrant colors depicting meandering trails of dotted and dashed lines, letters, and loose shapes. The work is titled, dated, and inscribed to the canvas verso. It remains unframed.
Kevin White works within his own studio space in the Visionaries+Voices Northside Studio. This area evolves and changes daily as Kevin’s creations take over and alter the immediate environment that surrounds him in a riot of color and pattern. He incorporates pop cans, cardboard, fabric and other materials into multi-dimensional found object sculptures and paintings. Using dots and line to meticulously describe animals, people and their environments, Kevin’s work is a close visual link to the designs created by Australian Aboriginal Tribes. Though varied in color, texture and form his art maintains an entirely cohesive look and style through the repeated patterns and motifs.
